Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun took to his Weibo page and released some details about the successor of Mi MIX. New device will be called the Xiaomi Mi MIX II. CEO also mentioned that the designer of the Mi MIX, Frenchman, Philippe Starck will be returning once again to design the successor.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX was one of the hottest phones in 2016, with its infinity edge, almost bezel less display.
According to Lei Jun, they together went over the design of the Mi MIX II to see how both sides can bring his innovative design into reality. Xiaomi will be aiming for a phone with a screen that covers the entire front of the phone, instead just 90% that was on first Mi MIX, device is also expected to exclude any physical buttons.
If Xiaomi designers achieve this design, Mi MIX II will be the first Chinese phone to not have a physical button. Device will also be first phone to have display on more than 95% of front side, until Apple releases its iPhone 8 that’s also rumored to have such design.. with home button and fingerprint scanner embedded under the display.
